Kim Kardashian Vogue Cover Shoot 2014 Not Anna Wintour's Decision? Creative Director Grace Coddington Talks Kanye West's and 'Well-Behaved' Baby North West's PHOTOS Feature After Backlash Controversey

Although Anna Wintour made a detailed statement explaining her decision to put Kim Kardashian and Kanye West on the cover of Vogue, it turns out, the editor-in-chief wasn't really the brains behind the Kimye operation.

According to E! News, Vogue creative director Grace Coddington admitted that she made the final call on the talked about cover.

She explained, "There was a wedding story to be done," adding, "And Anna [Wintour] probably had them in mind, because she had been seeing a lot of Kanye, so she said, 'Maybe we should shoot it on lookalikes.'

"And I thought, 'Why not just do it on the real thing? This is Vogue.'"

Coddington confessed that she honestly felt like North West's parents deserved the cover of the high fashion magazine.

The fiery redhead revealed, "I do think Kim Kardashian represents this moment in our culture," adding, "I'm fascinated by her, in the same way I'm fascinated by the people I see on the street or the subway."

Grace Coddington had no complaints when it came to working with Kim and Kanye along with their baby girl North West.

She said, "It was fun. [Kim] is very professional. And the baby [the couple's daughter, North] is very well-behaved. We did millions of pictures and she did not cry once. I got quite upset we did not have the baby on the cover."

Before publishing the cover featuring the couple Coddington was well aware that there would be plenty of backlash and that the issue would become a headline-making cover.

She admitted, "I knew going in it would be controversial - I got an envelope from Texas, with the cover ripped up into little pieces inside - but the designers all sent me flowers, so I guess they were happy."
