Sorry, "Friends" fans, but the Central Perk regulars will not be there for you in a reunion special, according to Courteney Cox.
Ten years ago this May, the beloved comedy went off the air after ten seasons. Fans speculated a taped reunion special might be in the cards, but the former Monica Geller says "it's not going to happen."
Last night, Cox stopped by "The Late Show" and David Letterman wasted no time. He was quick to ask if there was any chance, but the group has gone separate ways.
"Well, I'd like it, then they have to contact every other cast member and be like, 'Courteney's into it!' And then I get in trouble. It's not going to happen."
"Let me tell you something," the "Cougar Town" star explains. "There's six friends and I've been trying to put together a cast dinner for 10 years. It doesn't happen! I can get the girls to come, maybe Matthew Perry. Matt LeBlanc canceled last time right at the last minute, Schwimmer lives here (in New York City), so it's just not gonna happen."
Recently, creators Marta Kauffman and David Crane explained to Entertainment Weekly why a reunion would not work.
"The show is over," Kauffman stated, "What was at the heart of the show is done."
Crane agreed, adding, "People say they want it, and the more that we say it's a bad idea, people [disagree]. But I think if we actually gave it to people, there would be such backlash."
When asked about a possible "Friends" movie, Cox shut that down as well.
"We did the whole show on a sound stage in Monica's apartment. So, what would we even do?" she responded.
