#3 - Countdown by Beyoncé
So we follow up our last pick with another video vignette from the newest Queen B to reign over the music industry. The one and only Beyoncé always serves up some serious hair and makeup moments for us all to gush over, but we decided to highlight this particular video for all the many beauty throwbacks B gives us as an ode to her fellow female iconic inspirations.
Inspired by Audrey Hepburn in Funny Face, legendary music group the Supremes, and the Academy-award winning film West Side Story, Beyoncé makes old school glamour new again with so many fabulous looks it's hard to keep count. Even better, we get tons of close ups on the gorgeous diva so each look can be dissected over.
The theme for this video is clearly the fabulous fifties. Beyoncé's makeup artist for the video, Francesca Tolot explained the look in an interview. "The video was based on Audrey Hepburn. An edgy '50s mod , look. In a modern way," she said. "That was the inspiration for the looks in the video."
Get a load of all the throwback moments B is serving up. This video makes our countdown not only for the hair with the vintage scarves, but also for the amazing eye makeup. "The inspiration behind Beyoncé's brightly-lined lids came from the beatnik movement of the late '50s, early '60s," Tolot explained. "From previous experiences with Dreamgirls, I knew Beyoncé looked amazing with that type of makeup so the almond eye seemed to be the perfect fit." Umm, when does she not look amazing?
