Blake Lively: Ryan Reynolds' Wife and 'Gossip Girl' Star Lands New Movie Role, Leaves Bedford House a Year After Wedding to Steal 'The Age of Adaline' From Katherine Heigl?

It looks like Ryan Reynolds' wife Blake Lively has grown tired of sitting around her Bedford house and is ready get back into being a working actress.

The "Gossip Girl" star decided previously to put her career aside in order to spend more time with her husband following their wedding and settle into married life.

However, the actress is taking the plunge back into Hollywood as it was announced that Lively is the new lead of the romantic drama "The Age of Adaline" starring alongside Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn.

Lionsgate/Lakeshore made the big announcement on Wednesday, according to Us Weekly.

Apparently, Lively plays, an "ageless beauty" who was born at the turn of the 20th century but stops aging after a near-death accident.

From there she embarks on a worldwide journey that continues on throughout the century in an effort to keep her secret safe. This is only until she meets a man for whom she realizes her immortality is worth losing.

The magazine reported that Lively's last major role was in the 2012 film, "Savages." She's known for her part in "The Town" opposite Ben Afflect playing a drug addicted single mother.

"The Age of Adaline" will be directed by Lee Toland Krieger, the man behind "Celeste and Jesse Forever."

According to Deadline, actress Katherine Heigl was originally slated for the project but was later dropped for unknown reasons.

The film, now starring Blake Lively, "The Age of Adaline,"  is set to begin filming in March.
