A new "Witches of East End" trailer has gone viral, making fans more excited about the show's Lifetime premiere in 2013. With much anticipation, Jenna Dewan-Tatum's show will debut on Oct. 6.
But many TV viewers are wondering whether the series will stick closely to Melissa de la Cruz's New York Times best-selling novel of the same name, or be somewhat different. The show is loosely based on the book, according to reports.
NewsOK.com said the highly publicized show centers on the mysterious Beauchamp family.
Lifetime's new drama tells the story of free-spirited artist Joanna and her two grown daughters: wild-child bartender Freya and shy librarian Ingrid. When the show begins, the sisters are unaware that they have magical powers.
Freya is engaged to the man of her dreams, wealthy playboy Dash Gardiner, but finds herself drawn to her fiance's troubled brother Killian. And that's when bizarre things begin to happen for Freya. Meanwhile, Joanna's long-estranged sister Wendy shows up with a warning that could change the family forever, forcing Joanna to tell her daughters they're immortal witches.
Of course, with the news of their family's supernatural history, the sisters's comfortable small town life is out the window. And the family has to face an "ancient" enemy, too.
Channing Tatum's wife stars along co-stars Julia Ormond, Rachel Boston, Madchen Amick and Eric Winter. With such a female-dominated cast, the series is a "showcase of female empowerment," reported the Los Angeles Times.
JustJared reported that Dewan-Tatum appeared on "Extra" and "Chelsea Lately" to promote the show on Wednesday. The new mom, with her slim post-baby figure, talked about the show's plot and her love for psychic readings on E!'s late night talk show.
"Witches of East End" premieres on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 9 p.m. on Lifetime.
