History was made on Friday night when the 2013 American Latino Media Arts or ALMA Awards, were broadcasted live for the first time ever. And of course the moment was made even sweeter when we saw starlet Christina Milian's stunning red carpet look.
From head to toe, Christina Milian stole the show on stage with her Grecian-inspired look. The young singer/actress and Dancing with the Stars contestant was a vision in her goddess-style, classic cream-colored Sen Couture gown. Her hair was the perfect pairing in a full, high pompadour, classic up-do we simply loved. We hear Christina turned to her long-time stylist, Randy Stodghill, who took a fresh approach and added a modern twist alongside his own personal touch. Here's how to snag this gal's swag!
To create the look, Stodghill noted how healthy Christina's hair is. "The condition that your hair is in is key when trying to make a style work," he said. Stodghill began by pulling her hair back into a loose ponytail and folding it over into a bun. He then left out some strands of hair to create loose curls. He used the curls as a frame for the bun and also set the front of the hair in rollers to achieve volume. Randy then played with the hair using just his fingers to add texture, and brushed the front of the hair towards the side and back to create the modern pompadour look, pinning it under the bun.
Now Christina's hair is thick and gorgeous, but of course not all of us are lucky to have that naturally. "I have a lot of clients that complain about thin, dry, unhealthy and dull hair," Randy confesses. "The first thing I always ask them is what are you doing? They always admit to something unhealthy. People forget hair is alive. If you keep your body healthy and feed it what it needs to function, your hair is bound to grow and flourish too."
Luckily, Randy has a solution to this mane issue. When asked what he recommends for those trying to achieve this look at home, Stodghill says try supplement Viviscal. "I always recommend my clients start taking Viviscal because it makes a big difference. The hair grows faster and gives more oomph, while leaving a healthy shine and soft finish. You end up having more volume because it is thicker and gives an all-around healthier appearance."
Aside from Viviscal, Randy says lots of water, sunflower seeds, eggs, and whole grains - all things that make hair shine beautifully, and keep it hydrated, are great additions to your diet. "I am big on supplements for hair and skin, I tell all my clients, treat your body right and your hair and skin will look beautiful."
