It looks like "Scandal" season 3 is going to see a lot of new faces and as the premiere date get closer it was revealed that "Friends" star Lisa Kudrow would be one of them.
The actress, who is known for her hilarious ditzy blonde character Phoebe Buffay from the hit series "Friends," will now be portraying a politician on the ABC drama, according to the Daily Mail.
Kudrow's reoccurring role will shift her focus from producing projects as well as her improvisation show "Web Therapy" which she has been working on in the recent years.
The actress has yet to comment on her role in "Scandal" but ABC did confirm to Variety that the actress has signed onto the show.
While on the series, Kudrow will join her producing partner Dan Bucatinsky, who also plays Cyrus Beane's husband James Novak. The actor recently received an Emmy Award nomination for his work.
Kerry Washington stars as Olivia Pope, a crisis-management consultant dedicated to protecting the public images of those in high office. However, in the season 2 finale, her public image was destroyed, leaving fans anticipating the season 3 return on October 3rd.
The show's creator Shonda Rhimes teased earlier this month about how viewers may get to see the re-election campaign of President Fitzgerald Grant.
The campaign is something that fans are dying to see now that his public image is destroyed and he has been labeled a cheater and adulterer for his affair with Olivia.
Rhimes told The Hollywood Reporter that, "We're going to head in that direction, but I don't know if we're going to get there in the first half of the season. But we are heading in that direction. It's a big deal.
"We're at the timeline where that starts to be an issue."
