Following the Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder break up many wondered whether things would be awkward between the former couple at events and on set of their CW hit series "The Vampire Diaries."
Over the weekend fans got to see how the former couple acts around each other as they were forced to go to Comic-Con along with the rest of their cast to discuss their show in various interviews on a panel and sign autographs.
It was reported by E! News that things got pretty awkward between the Dobrev and Somerhalder upon their arrival to the event.
Although there have been reports following the split that insisted the two have remained friends, as of lately it seems like the actor has been targeting his ex-girlfriend.
"The Vampire Diaries" costars showed some serious tension at Comic-Con on Saturday in San Diego when the actor offered a fan in the audience Dobrev's number.
A source told E! News that the actress jokingly asked, "Is there anyone Elena hasn't made out with?" to which an audience member shouted "Me!"
From there Somerhalder said, "Give me your number. I'll set you up." It could have honestly been a joke but the remark came moments after the actress reportedly attempted to avoid her ex.
According to a source, when the actress spotted her ex-boyfriend in the press room she made a B-line towards the door.
The source said, "Ian showed up and Nina showed up shortly after. She saw Ian was right in front of her and went away, then came back a little later so they were spaced out a bit more during press-line interviews."
Fans of the show know that Dobrev's and Somerhalder's characters Elena and Damon finally started a relationship in the last season. However, this season executive producer Caroline Dries revealed that fans will actually see the fictional couple happy in their relationship.
She said fans will see the pair "being genuinely happy for a little while because Damon has fought so hard to be with Elena," according to the Daily Mail.
She also said "We kind of want to go against the grain, and make them a happy couple without bickering and fighting every episode but actually make their relationship suffer from real life issues that come up in normal people relationships and make it less about mythological conflicts."
Despite the occasional awkwardness the two posed for photos together and Somerhalder even posted a photo of him in Dobrev on his Instagram account but he later deleted it.
