A German lingerie company, Blush Berlin is drawing attention for their new ad mentioning NSA leaker, Edward Snowden.
In their playful new promotion, a red-headed woman dressed in a black bra and undergarments stands next to the caption, "Dear Edward Snowden, there's still a lot to uncover." His ongoing scandal has been used as a huge marketing tool by the overseas intimates brand, which has also embraced another playful slogan, "Dear NSA, intimates - don't spy them, buy them," according to the Daily Beast.
The company went public with their feelings toward Snowden on Facebook. They posted, "Dear Edward Snowden, Instead of hanging around in Moscow or Ecuador, why don't you come to Blush Berlin? We offer you the best asylum, you can have. We have a bed and champagne. And we really treat the intimates of other people with great care."
They also wrote, "Dear Edward, take good care! We are with you!" In declaring their support for the notorious whistle blower, they are stirring a hot pot of controversy. And they are also "hijacking a newsworthy event to make their brand seem more relevant and edgy," reported Business Insider.
What Snowden got was a mention in an unlikely medium, a name drop in an unexpected place, essentially. They also offered something that was denied to the informant by several countries: asylum. After revealing the National Security Agency's top-secret surveillance programs to the media and globe-trotting to avoid arrest, the world has had their eyes on him. And apparently, so did Blush Berlin.
Their Twitter page has filled up with messages of the media mentions of their new shocking ads. They are getting a bandwagon of traffic by turning one's man fight and problems into clever ad copy and expected huge sales.
