Model and actress Angie Everhart is facing a matter near and dear to many individual hearts, publicly confirming she has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer and will undergo surgery on May 14.
A rep for the 43-year-old fiery redheaded beauty released a statement to Extra admitting the news, according to the Huffington Post.
"Word has been tricking out about supermodel/actress Angie Everhart's health," the statement read. "She wants to set the record straight by letting everyone know that it is true that she has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer, however, the prognosis is very good."
Following the surgery, Everhart "expects to be back to work and to mommy duties in a few weeks," reported Huffington and E! Online.
Everhart revealed the diagnosis to "encourage people to learn about cancer prevention, its signs and treatments immediately," her rep said.
She also wishes to thank everyone who heard about the news and expressed care or support.
Most people know Everhart as a cover girl, gracing several fashion glossies from Glamour, Elle and several Sports Illustrated swinsuit issues. She also has appeared in movies like "Payback" and "Last Action Hero."
The redheaded beauty is also a mom, who loves to live life.
