Oscar winner Anne Hathaway has apologized for wearing Prada and ditching her all time favorite Valentino during the 2013 Academy Awards.
After the event, Hathaway released a statement through her publicist explaining the reasons behind her choosing Prada. "It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans," Hathaway's explanation read, according to WWD.
The actress was referring to a key-hole dress also by Valentino, worn by her "Les Miserables" co-star, Amanda Seyfried.
"Though I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last-minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honor of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself. I deeply regret any disappointment caused," the actress added.
The actress looked stunning dressed in a pale blush Prada gown but this step shocked fans worldwide as everyone expected Hathaway to stay loyal to Valentino who even dressed her for her wedding to Adam Shulman in 2012. When the star stepped onto the red carpet, onlookers went into frenzy seeing her wearing Prada.
This was evidently not expected by Valentino either as the fashion house had already sent out a press release to announce that it would be dressing A-listers like Hathaway, Jennifer Aniston, Sally Field and Seyfried.
Though Hathaway became the butt of jokes as it looked like she was exposing her nipples in the dress and now Twitter even has an account named, "@HathawayNipple," the actress clearly loved her dress.
"I loved the simplicity of it. And this sounds weird, but I'm 30 and I feel 30 in this, And that's a very positive thing. I feel lucky - to be wearing it," she said about her Prada gown.
While audience might shun her for her disloyalty towards Valentino, we say kudos for averting a red carpet disaster.
