Nail trends are something that never go out of style. Instead they keep evolving. White tipped French manicures and brightly colored nails used to be one of the most fashionable nail trends one could flaunt, till colorful tips and nail art came into being.
The trend that has been catching up and is a regular feature on the runways these days is the Ruffian nails – a double colored inverted moon design. (Think of it as a design that looks like a French manicure but instead of the tip, the base is a different color.)
While French manicures are mostly done with glossy colors, the best part about Ruffian nail trend is that it can be achieved not just with glossy colors but even with any kind of texture like velvet, fur and caviar.
The 2012 New York Fashion Week saw this nail style on a number of models. The Ruffian nail trend was done up in eclectic shades of dark and light purple, maroon and pink combined with velvety textures.
The trend might look difficult to achieve but as long as one has a steady hand and a combination of striking colors, one can flaunt Ruffian nails in minutes. In bright flirty colors, this nail trend lends a playful, summery look to your outfit. And it might just get easier with YouTube user Tanya Richards’ inputs.
