Vintage Photo the Inspiration behind Amy Adams’ Oscar Dress

While Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence simply wore the brand she endorses and Anne Hathaway went for a Prada gown at the last minute, Adams took some time to decide her dress and managed to please fans and critics with her choice.

The actress decided to wear the fairy like dress for the event when she came across a similar design in a vintage photo.

Adams is said to have gone through a number of designs and showed them to the designer. "[Adams found photos] that were shown to Mr. de la Renta," her stylist Cristina Ehrlich told People. "But one shot of a model walking into a doorway struck a chord with the iconic designer. It was sort of a real 'aha' moment for him when he saw this one specific photograph."

The duo finally decided on the dramatic beads and tulle embellished strapless silver-gray gown that stood out in brilliant contrast to red carpet. Since Adams and Renta pinpointed the dress, the fashion house worked industriously to bring the design to life. Renta is said to have worked extremely hard even on the tiniest details of the dress like the lace as well as each bead.

The creation was modified till the last moment for the perfect fit and the result was stunning. While the strapless beaded bodice gave it a modern and fashion forward look, the feathers and lacey tulle brought a vintage charm that reminded us of Cinderella.

"The first time she put the dress, she was like sashaying through the office. You could tell that she was having that fairytale moment," Ehrlich added.
