Carl Pistorius Faces Homicide Charge, Lawyer Claims Carl Was Not Drunk

Bad news turned worse for the Pistorius family as the brother of Olympic star Oscar Pistorius is facing a culpable homicide charge for a 2008 accident on the road. Family of the double-amputee runner from South Africa have enough on their hands already with Oscar's premeditated murder charge from the Februrary 14th shooting death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in his home. Now, brother Carl, who was already in court last Thursday for Oscar's bail hearing, will need to challenge his own charges.

Pistorius' Lawyer Kenny Oldwage said in a statement that Carl had been involved in a car accident "in which a woman motorcyclist sadly lost her life." He also said that "there is no doubt that Carl is innocent and the charge will be challenged in court."

Carl was seend driving to the affluent neighborhood of Waterkloof, suburb of Pretoria, where his brother Oscar is reportedly currently staying with his Uncle Arnold while out on bail.

As the world and South Africa watches on in what has become a chilling and disheartening case, local residents can't help but feel for the Pistorius family at this time.

"It's also doubly sad because it's involved with Oscar and his brother and all the family - so they have double sort of trouble. So, not good," said Johannesburg resident Jim Plester.

Carl's lawyer claims that he "deeply regrets the accident" and that his blood test showed that he was not drunk at the time of the accident. It was a tragic road accident after the deceased collided with Carl's car." This is the second time the charges have been brought against Carl Pistorius, as they had been initially dropped before being reinstated.

On Saturday, the Pistorius family took another step in removing their sons' profiles from the public eye, deleting all social media accounts for both brothers and sister Aimee after Carl's Twitter account was hacked.
