Designers James Mischka and Mark Badgley of fashion label Badgely Mischka presented their new Fall 2013 collection at New York Fashion Week on Wednesday. According to USA Today the new collection was inspired by the femme fatales in Alfred Hitchcock films.
The collection included crepe dresses, fox vests and stoles, peplum tops, plaid frocks, gowns that were in hues of black and white and evening dresses. Badgley also presented what he called "dirty metallics" and colors such as "blood red", according to USA Today.
The stylish collection looked both elegant and seductive with models walking up and down the runway displaying that femme fatale aura.
Designer James Mischka discussed the new collection by stating backstage at the show, "Rear Window is one of our favorite [movies]. We have a very strict, controlled silhouette. Think of Kim Novak in Vertigo."
Mischka also discussed the process of making each gown by stating that each gown takes the work of 20 people working "round the clock for three weeks".
With the Academy Awards setting to air on February 24th, the designers were asked if their collection will make its way to the red carpet.
"Our publicity team starts getting requests to please hold this for so-and-so. They all wait for fall runway for Oscars. So your dress either goes to the Oscars or to your showroom," Badgley stated backstage at the show according to USA Today.
