Victoria Secret came out on top as the most consumer-recognized brand, according to recent Womens Wear Daily (WWD) survey.
The WWD 100 most consumer-recognized brands surveyed women ages 13 to 64, survey participants were asked how familiar they are with over 1,000 pre-selected brands, with options: "very familiar," "somewhat familiar" or "not at all familiar." Amongst the top ten list with Victoria Secrets were brands: Hanes, Old Navy, Nike, Calvin Klein, Levi's, Gap, Lee, Fruit of the Loom and Timex.
The Victoria Secret brand, known as the largest retailer of lingerie, was founded in 1977. The brand expanded it's designs to woman's wear, beauty products and has over 1,000 stores in the United States.
Victoria Secret catalog then crated the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show featuring top models around the globe from Tyra Banks, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Chanel Iman and Miranda Kerr. The show started in 1995 with "a combination of self-assured strutting for women and voyuristic pleasures for men- and lingerie becomes mainstream entertainment." The 2012 Victoria's Secret Fashion show had over 9.4 million viewers world wide.
