Medipeel Responds to Alleged Illegal Use of aespa Winter's Photos to Promote the Brand

Recently, the Korean cosmetics, Medipeel, faced backlash after releasing a marketing video featuring aespa Winter without her permission.

The problematic video not only infringed the portrait rights of the idol but made it sound like Winter was also using their products.

"These days, the trendy dewy skin is all the rage thanks to aespa Winter."

Aside from her photos, the controversial clip also stole behind-the-scenes snippets from aespa's official YouTube content videos and edited it as if the member is using Medipeel products.

The primary concern is that Winter is not in any way affiliated to Medipeel, or any other beauty brands, other than Amorepacific's Mamonde and Espoir. Also, the only K-pop idol currently working with the brand is the boy group, ZEROBASEONE.

When this reached the Korean brand, they claimed that they were clueless about the video.

"We were not aware of the relevant facts as it was a marketing campaign conducted through a third-party agency," clarified the brand.

However, the company took accountability for the mistake and attested to delete it. As of the coverage of TopStarNews, it has not been deleted yet.

Amorepacific, the parent company of the two beauty brands Winter is promoting also said that they will be confirming relevant facts about the issue.

"(We) are in the process of determining the exact facts."

Attention is focused if the company will take legal action against Medipeel's unauthorized use of its portrait rights.
