How to Achieve 'French Girl' Look Using This Lipstick Hack by Guerlain Makeup Artist

Violette Serrat, the creator of 40 additional Rouge G lipstick shades by Guerlain revealed the ULTIMATE HACK on how to wear a bold, red lippy like a French woman.

In an interview with the British Vogue, the self-taught makeup artist and founder of Violette_FR dished on her background as a painter, the origin of her unorthodox makeup tricks.

Here, she revealed that natural makeup such as lipstick and blush wasn't actually created using just one color, but it is a "layer of several sheer shades on top of each other." This is the same case when she's wearing a "French Girl" red lipstick look.

In the beauty scene, the red shade holds a bold and empowering meaning, but to French woman, wearing this hue is just another Tuesday to show off their effortless and chic appearance.

"To look effortless, you have to be effortless — it's no secret," said Serrat.

While it looks like anyone can achieve this in just one swipe of a vivacious red lipstick, Serrat revealed a hack to make it naturally elegant — by skipping lip liner.

Through her newly released Rouge G lipstick, the Guerlain makeup creative director noted how she designed the bullet to be tapered on one side and explained:

"So that you can apply it as precisely as if you had used both (lip pencil and lipstick) – even without a liner and lip brush."

While the idea seems to be just a small action, Serrat also emphasized the benefits of tapping the lipstick using the fingers to achieve a more natural finish upon application.
