L’Oréal Signs Deal With Evonik, Abolis To Develop Sustainable Beauty Products

L'Oréal Groupe has signed a deal with biotech firm Abolis Biotechnologies and chemicals company Evonik to innovate sustainable ingredients for beauty products.

This deal aims to satisfy the worldwide demand for responsible and sustainable beauty products. It also eyes speeding up the "L'Oréal for the Future" program, launched in 2020, which prioritizes bio-based ingredients for beauty products.

This collaboration also green-lights Abolis to augment its capabilities in developing microbe-powered solutions that assist industries in shifting to sustainable business systems.

Evonik is L'Oréal's manufacturer for this partnership. In a statement, Evonik's Head of Business Line Care Solutions expressed his excitement about the new endeavor of bringing sustainable ingredients to the global market.

Meanwhile, the L'Oréal Groupe Deputy Chief Executive Officer Barbara Lavernos said this partnership aims to build an "end-to-end value chain" they believe has massive potential to produce groundbreaking bio-based beauty ingredients.

Abolis CEO Cyrille Pauthenier also revealed he was "thrilled" about the partnership, and stated that it will empower the company to generate groundbreaking solutions built to drive sustainable transformation for the beauty, healthcare, and nutrition industries.
