'Surfer Curtains' Haircut is the New Trending Hairstyle for Teen Boys

The "surfer curtains" haircut, which is said to give guys that "Hollywood heartthrob" look, has become a rising hair trend among Gen Z on TikTok.

This beachy and textured hairstyle was popularized by influencer Dillon Latham and celebrities like Timothée Chalamet, TC Candler's "most handsome face of 2023."

"Riverdale" actor Charles Melton was also spotted flaunting the same hairstyle, which has attracted the attention of the numerous teen boys.

The "surfer curtains" haircut is characterized by long layers with textured, choppy ends -- like the surfer hairstyle -- and face-framing, curtain-style bangs.

The hair is parted in the middle, making the layers frame the face in a stylishly messy and flattering way.

Hairstylist Kylee Heath explained the haircut, telling Pop Sugar: "The cut and style leaves some length in the front that is worn almost like a curtain bang that can be tossed left to right. This look is also great when it is a little tousled with some volume and texture."

In an interview with the magazine Parents, stylist Andrew Zumbo described the look as "a surfer haircut paired with ‘90s curtain bangs."

With the noise it is creating among teens, Zumbo acknowledged the haircut's popularity and added, "It’s that Hollywood heartthrob hair that we're seeing right now."

Indeed, this is a low-maintenance hairstyle as it only requires a bit of tousling and a few styling products to retain its volume and texture.

On platforms like YouTube and TikTok, several Gen Z creators have shared tutorial videos on how to recreate the look.

Zumbo shared his personal hacks to do the "effortless" and "unstructured" haircut as well, telling Parents: "It's really minimal. They just need to wake up in the morning, spritz a little bit of [sea salt spray] on top of their head, wave it around, and they're good to go."
