Avon, a global leader in cosmetics and personal care products, has attained a significant milestone by securing cruelty-free certification across its entire range.
The certification, awarded under Cruelty Free International's Leaping Bunny Program, marks Avon's commitment to ethical practices in beauty manufacturing. The Leaping Bunny Program is widely recognized as the gold standard for cruelty-free products globally.
Avon's journey toward full certification began with initial approvals for its Fragrance, Avon Care, and Anew lines last summer.
Over the past year, Avon undertook a meticulous process, screening more than 8,000 raw materials and engaging with over 4,000 suppliers to ensure compliance with the program's rigorous standards.
Kristof Neirynck, Avon's CEO, expressed pride in achieving Leaping Bunny approval after decades of dedication to eliminating animal testing from its operations worldwide. He emphasized Avon's unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality products while upholding stringent animal welfare, safety, and regulatory standards.
"After three decades of working toward ending animal testing for cosmetics, we're proud to reach this milestone and become Leaping Bunny approved," Neirynck said. "This achievement reflects our belief that beauty should be cruelty-free across the board, and our long-standing commitment to make the world a better place for all."
Meanwhile, Michelle Thew, CEO of Cruelty Free International, lauded Avon's achievement, highlighting the brand's integration into the Leaping Bunny family as a significant step forward in the global movement against animal testing.
"It's been an amazing journey for Avon to receive Leaping Bunny approval and I am delighted that its entire range of products are now confirmed as cruelty-free," Thew remarked. "It has been really exciting to work with Avon to help end animal testing, and to welcome such a global brand and household name fully into the Leaping Bunny family."
The program requires brands to implement robust supplier monitoring systems and undergo independent audits, ensuring ongoing adherence to strict cruelty-free criteria.
While Avon's products are now certified cruelty-free, consumers interested in vegan options should note that cruelty-free certification does not inherently guarantee vegan suitability, as some products may still contain animal-derived ingredients.
Nonetheless, Avon continues to expand its range of vegan-friendly offerings, including the eco-friendly Distillery skincare line, reflecting its broader commitment to sustainability and consumer choice.
