The Miss Universe 2023 pageant will feature an all-female hosting team.
The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) recently announced on its official Facebook account that an all-female lineup will be hosting the 72nd Miss Universe coronation night to be held Saturday at the José Adolfo Pineda Arena in San Salvador, El Salvador.
"Welcome back to our all-female hosting team!" Miss Universe captioned photos of its 2023 pageant hosts.
The 2023 pageant will be hosted by model and Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo and TV host Jeannie Mai Jenkins for the second time in a row. Joining them will be TV presenter Maria Menounos.
Meanwhile, Filipina model and Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray will return as a backstage correspondent of the show along with her partner last year, Emmy Award-winning television personality and actress Zuri Hall.
Although the main hosts will be an all-female team, the Spanish-language telecast of the pageant will be hosted by Ecuadorian presenter Danilo Carrera.
Mexican beauty queen Jacqueline Bracamontes, TV personality Carlos Adyan, Miss Universe 2020 Andrea Meza, and Miss Universe 2020 runner-up Julia Gama will be hosting alongside Carrera on Telemundo.
In 2022, it was announced that Steve Harvey, who was Miss Universe's host for five years under its deal with Fox channel, would no longer return to the show. He was replaced by Culpo and Jenkins.
"My goal was really to make sure we led with a female lens this next go-around," MUO Ceo Amy Emmerich, who also had then just joined the organization, told Variety.
The announcement came after the 2022 purchase of the MUO by Thailand-based company JKN Global Group, headed by Anne Jukapong Jakrajutatip.
Meanwhile, the Miss Universe organization announced Tuesday the members of the selection committee for the imminent 72nd edition of its pageant.
Among the committee members are two former Miss Universe titleholders: Janelle "Penny" Commissiong from Trinidad and Tobago, victorious in 1977, and France's Iris Mittenaere, crowned in 2016.
Additionally, the selection committee includes Filipino-American physician Connie Mariano, model Halima Aden, actress Giselle Blondet, singer-songwriter Mario Bautista, program management director at Roku Sweta Patel, actor-designer Carson Kressley, entrepreneur Denise White, and social media personality Avani Gregg.
The committee will choose the winner from the 90 candidates participating in the Miss Universe 2023 pageant.
