And 'Thank U, Next' makes 7, Arianators!
Pop singer Ariana Grande now has seven fragrances to her name. Her debut fragrance in 2015 was Ari, an ultra-feminine and non-overpowering sweet scent in a pom-pom pink bottle. In just two years, Ari Perfume already sold for over $150 million.
Grande partnered with perfumer Clement Gavarry in 2018 for the launching of her second scent, Cloud -- a scent with lavender, pearand a hint of coconut. Cloud recently won the Fragrance Foundation's Fragrance of the Year: Women's Popular Award.
She revisited Ari perfume with a twist for her third fragrance and unisex perfume, Frankie.
Moonlight for Women, Sweet Like Candy and Sweet Like Candy limited edition rounded up Ariana's first six fragrances. All of these bottles featured her signature pom on the side in colors pink, white, black and red.
Ariana Grande Trademarks 'Thank U, Next'
The multi-platinum singer is currently trademarking "Ariana Grande Thank U, Next" for her line of beauty products including perfumes, colognes, body mist, bath gels, body scrubs, shower gels, body lotions and body powders.
Ari launched a special sequel video of her hit song "Thank U, Next" for her newest fragrance.
The Grammy award-winning singer launched Thank U, Next perfume in Ulta Stores available nationwide. Spot it as a 100ml pink bottle emerging from a broken and shattered heart which "represents moving forward from a challenging chapter," Grande reveals.
Her newest fragrance is a sweet blend of wild raspberry and white pear, as Grande wanted to reminisce on her first fragrance. She also wanted a "summery and tropical" mix, so amid the fragrance, they added the warmth of dry pink rose petals and crème de coconut.
Finally, it hints of macaroon sugar and sweet velvet musk.
The High-End Perfumer Behind the Fragrance
Turning her vision into a reality is Jerome Epinette, the senior perfumer at Robertet Fragrances, The Fragrance Foundation.
Epinette is a sought-after perfumer, having created perfumes for the likes of Byredo, Atelier Cologne, Vilhelm, Frapin, and Olfactive Studio.
Epinette has quite the nose, revealing that had he not been a perfumer, he would have been a wine sommelier and rightfully so. He is a native to Burgundy, France (Bourgogne) which is famous for its wines.
More Affordable Fragrances by Epinette
Epinette also worked on more affordable fragrances such as Other Stories (H&M's luxury spin-off brand), Sonia Kashuk fragrances for Target, and vegan perfumes for Feeney.
Floral Street vegan perfumes were, "created to make you smile," shares Epinette. The master perfumer is one to focus on the ingredients, rather than play with a blend of words in advertising.
"Consumers," he says, "are more educated than ever, reading the ingredients and familiarizing names."
How He Makes His Scents
The New York City-based fragrance guru is a master of simplicity while being one of the most versatile perfumers today.
The fragrance artisan creates scents that blend well with the scents of the brand or line he is working on.
Epinette works with mood boards, visual images, music and poetry to encapsulate the idea of the brand.
We can't wait to see how Ariana Grande's perfume will do in the fragrance industry, considering the perfumer who concocted it is the same man behind luxury perfumes from Byredo -- which is almost three times more expensive than the 'Thank U, Next' Perfume.
