We spend so much of our time and money on beauty products we put on our faces, but so little on what we actually put INSIDE our body. This is not right.
Everyone has their favorite facial cream, product and/or treatment, but gorgeous skin starts with nourishment from the inside. Older cells are regularly shed and renewed by younger ones, and a constant supply of essential nutrients is needed to sustain this fast growth.
Eat the right balance of foods and you'll nourish your skin with the vital nutrients it needs to help it stay smooth, supple, and blemish-free.
If you have little to no idea of what to do, here are three ways to make sure you are providing your oh-so-precious skin the right nourishment from the inside.
1. Drink six to eight cups of water daily
Skin cells contain mostly water, so it needs moisture to stay flexible. If you're dehydrated, it will cause your skin to look dry, tired and well, parched.
Drink enough glasses of water daily, but you don't need chug eight cups a day. Any supply of fluids adds to your daily water intake. Six glasses daily is a good starting point. Don't forget that some fruit and vegetables, such as watermelon, strawberry and cucumber also provide H2O. The added benefit of these is that the minerals they have will boost your skin hydration. Also, avoiding smoking and immoderate alcohol consumption prevents the skin from aging.
2. Eat at least five servings of fruit and veggies every day
Fruit and vegetables consist of potent antioxidants that increase skin protection from the cellular harm caused by free radicals. Pollutions, smoking and even sunlight can cause the skin to wrinkle and age.
Some fruits and veggies like carrots, sweet potatoes and pumpkin contain betacarotene; while kale, papaya and spinach contain lutein. These are just some of the healthiest fruit and vegetables that have potent antioxidants essential for regular skin cell improvement and healthy skin complexion
3. Opt for fatty fish
Salmon, mackerel, and herring are some examples of fatty fish that are excellent for healthy skin. They are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for maintaining skin fitness. It can also make your skin much less sensitive to the harmful UV rays from the sun.
Furthermore, they are needed to maintain supple, thick and moisturized skin. A lack of omega-3 fats can lead to parched-looking skin. We suggest that you get sufficient omega-3 and omega-6 fats-- vital fatty acids, which can't be produced by the body without some fish-laden diet.
What you eat will certainly have a substantial impact on your body and skin health. Make sure you're getting enough vital nutrients to protect and improve your skin. This list contains some of the healthiest dietary tips that are great alternatives to keep your skin healthy, vibrant and beautiful, day in and night out.
Once you make corrections to your diet, don't expect to see results instantly. It will never be an overnight miracle. It takes about six weeks for brand-new skin to appear to the surface, so the visible gains from dietary shifts will take just as long. Patience is a virtue, but this is so worth it!
