Meghan Markle's outfits since her engagement have been the talk of the town. A royal expert finally does the math and said her clothes totaled $1 million.
Katie Nicholl, a go-to expert for everything about the royals, claims that Markle has worn $1-million worth of glamorous clothes since her engagement with Prince Harry was announced. So those wanting to dress like the Duchess of Sussex better save up now to cop her looks up.
But the outfits aren't at all burning a hole in the former Suits actress' pocket. Apparently, being the Mrs. of Prince Harry meant the bill has to be paid by the royal family, specifically the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex's dad, Prince Charles.
"It does fall now, that she is married into the royal family, to the Prince of Wales...to cover the cost of her working royal wardrobe," Nicholl explained.
Prices Of Outfits
Starting with her wedding dresses, the lackluster Givenchy gown is worth $440,000, while the Stella McCartney she changed into for the reception costs over $157,000. While this was the case, Nicholl said Markle may have shelled out some moolah for her outfits, though it was the royal family that had set the bill.
While her outfits sound like these cost an arm and a leg, these may be touted as worthy expenses for the Palace. The expert argued that Markle is already an "ambassador for the royal family." Furthermore, Nicholl underlined the attention the 36-year-old has been able to rake in attention leading to her and Prince Harry's wedding.
The royal expert is basically saying that no matter how expensive Markle's outfits are, the Palace doesn't see it as a splurge after the former actress' has garnered publicity. Now, onto her next outfit, the Givenchy caped beige dress she wore during her trip with Queen Elizabeth II came with a hefty price tag of $18,000. After that, she was spotted attending the wedding of Prince Harry's cousin, Celia McCorquodale with George Woodhouse, wearing a printed blue and white Oscar de la Renta dress that is sold for close to $6,000.
Meanwhile, her fondness of light pink hues is quite obvious after a couple of her appearances saw her in the same shade of dresses. For the Trooping of the Colour, she opted a $4,000-Carolina Herrera off-shoulder hushed pink dress. Her Goat $643-dress for the garden party also came in the same shade.
Of this pattern, Nicholl said it was Markle's way of not outshining anyone, and nobody's complaining since the color suits her well. It is still unclear whether the Duchess of Sussex will rewear her costly outfits like her sister-in-law Kate Middleton, but the expert guessed that she would.
Mentioned amounts totaled only $625,643. The light pink double breasted Prada dress for the Queen's Young Leaders Reception in the Buckingham Palace, her Royal Ascot outfit, as well as her outfits prior to the wedding may have totaled more or less the balance of $374,357.
