USA Network has officially dropped "Covert Affairs" this week despite wrapping up its fifth season with a cliffhanger.
The agent-themed show was reportedly cancelled over low ratings, according to Cinema Blend.
This is such a terrible news for loyal fans who avidly tuned in to follow the happenings in the life of lead character Annie Walker.
However, USA's decision to scrap the series after its fifth run was actually good enough, given that "Covert Affairs" has been struggling to collect as much ratings as it did during its freshman run on TV.
In its premiere season, the show reportedly raked in 4.88 views, but as it continued, the dwindling ratings became very obvious.
During its recently concluded season, "Covert Affairs" only managed to get an average of 1.1 million viewers to tune in, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
Despite the show's cancellation, Perabo was very thankful for everyone who took part in the series.
"Thanks for all love for .@CovertAffairs I will miss it but am so happy to have made so many great friends through it. Love you guys, xp," she wrote on Twitter.
“@jvento @ChrisGorham Thanks for all your support and taking the adventure with us! Xp #CovertAffairs,” she added.
The network is currently focused more on its new projects that are to start joining its lineup of shows for this year.
Three weeks ago, the network already signed on "Mr. Robot" and is also set to launch new dramas "Dig" and "Complications" later this year.
Additionally, four more shows are in the works: "Queen of South," "Evil Men," "Stanistan" starring Jennifer Carpenter and "Colony" starring Josh Holloway.
Aside from "Covert Affairs," USA has also cancelled two other shows "White Collar" and "Rush" but decided to keep "Royal Pains," "Playing House," "Chrisley Knows Best," "Suits," "Satisfaction" and "Graceland," Inquisitr has learned.
