'When AnnaSophia Robb walked into the room, we knew we had found her," said executive producer Amy B. Harris.
"Her grace, intelligence, sense of fun and her empathetic nature make her the perfect girl to bring our young Carrie to life. The fact that she loves a gorgeous pair of heels doesn’t hurt either."

"Well the show takes place in the 80's so Stephanie Savage [the show's creator] and I decided to create a sense of 'aspirational authenticity' because the 80’s were really decadent and as for as clothing goes, you want to make it very modern -- we wanted to inject freshness," said costume designer Eric Daman.

The wardrobe of the young Carrie includes, at least so far, a sparkling pouffy silver prom dress, green leopard print jacket, hot pink jeans, and a pink and black polka dot prom dress. Bright orange heels, a rainbow belt and "Carrie" bag add to the Carrie magic.

AnnaSophia Robb has pulled off the 80's looks, and also gained a seal of approval from Sarah Jessica Parker.

The 46-year-old mother-of-three "sent me a letter! I wrote her one back, too," the 18-year old told US Weekly.
"She was just very encouraging about it all. It was really cool!"

"I know everyone's going to compare it to Sex and the City, but we're never going to be that," Rob told US. "The show is more for my generation, but it's set in the '80s, so it's fun."

In "The Carrie Diaries" premiering this fall on The CM, the "South Surfer" starlet plays Carrie in her younger ages when she explores the questions of love, sex, friendship and family as she struts down the busy streets of Manhattan.
