Lindsay Lohan may be suffering from a rare, untreatable virus, but she is determined to have fun and enjoy her vacation to the fullest.
The "Mean Girls" star recently shared some bad news on her Twitter page, where she revealed that she has been struck down by Chikungunya while on her French Polynesian holiday getaway.
"Before I got Chikungunya," she wrote on Twitter Saturday, along with a serene photo of her jet skiing.
Chikunguny is a viral disease transmitted to humans by infected mosquitos, according to the World Health Organization. It causes fever and severe joint pain. Other symptoms include muscle pain, headache, nausea, fatigue and rash, according to Daily News.
The 28-year-old also advised her followers to take certain precautions while enjoying the sun outside.
"Use (bug) spray please," she tweeted.
Unfortunately, there's no treatment for the virus, so the "Freaky Friday" star will just have to get lots of rest and drink plenty of fluids to offset dehydration, per recommendations from the CDC.
The disease hasn't stopped Lohan from living it up this holiday season, however, with the actress sharing a sweet snapshot of her and her friends on her Instagram page.
"In good faith with good people," she captioned the photo posted Sunday. "I refuse to let a virus effect my peaceful vacation. Be safe and happy on the new all #wildfox and a positive, healthy new year."
Still, it seemed as though the symptoms were getting the best of her despite her trying to stay positive.
"Being sick is no fun," she posted on Twitter Sunday. "But happy new year everyone. Be safe. Love all. Make a difference."
Lohan returned home Monday and was greeted by a special holiday gift.
"Landed safe at home," she wrote. "@givenchyofficial told me so."
Get well soon, Lindsay!
