Hayley Williams and her New Found Glory member beau are off to a great start this year as the two have finally gotten engaged!
Gilbert apparently popped the big question on Christmas day and the two couldn't wait to share the big news to their fans and celebrity friends.
"Popped the question on Christmas Day!" he shared to his Instagram followers on Wednesday night. "#MicDrop."
The lead singer of Paramore got a bit creative with her own announcement, tweeting "Hey guess what?" along with a picture of her and her longtime beau photoshopped onto a bride and groom.
The pair's celebrity friends, including Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, caught up quickly with Gilbert and Williams' good news and congratulated the couple through their respective Twitter accounts.
"@yelyahwilliams @XChadballX CONGRATULATIONS YOU CRAZY KIDS!!!!," Swift tweeted on New Year's Day.
"@yelyahwilliams @XChadballX yessssss congrats you two!!!!" "Clarity" hitmaker Zedd also posted Thursday.
"@yelyahwilliams @XChadballX YAS! Now this is truly punk rock! CONGRATS!" Perry told the newly engaged couple.
"@yelyahwilliams @XChadballX congrats guys !!!" Pete Wentz tweeted, along with several thumbs up.
Gilbert recently talked about his relationship with Williams and revealed how they stayed so close for so long.
"Personally, Hayley and I, we'd been dating for six years, and we hit a rough patch in our relationship, and it was great, being able to get that out in these songs," he explained to Fuse TV when promoting his bands' new album.
He continued, "It made things better for us, you know what I'm saying? There was so much going on at this time that you can dig deep into the record."
The Paramore singer has talked about relationship struggles in the past, including the difficulty she's experienced being apart from Gilbert during busy tour schedules. However, a lot of support goes a long way in making up for the distance.
"That's our life. We always, always tour," she said in an interview with Spin magazine. "But honestly it's great. We both love what we do and we both support each other and love that we're doing the thing that we enjoy."
Congratulations to the happy couple!
