Craig Wayne Boyd has recently made a record as a country artist shortly after winning NBC's "The Voice Season 7" with his coronation single titled "My Baby's Got A Smile On Her Face," which is currently number one on Billboard's Hot Country Song list.
With his launching single, Boyd managed to beat Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood and Eric Church. McGraw's "Shotgun Rider" is at number two followed by Underwood's "Something In The Water" at number three and Church's "Talladega" at number four.
This makes Boyd the second artist ever to have a song that debuted at number one since the Hot Country Songs list started in 1958. The first one to achieve such a feat was Garth Brooks when his single "More Than A Memory" topped the chart on Sept. 15, 2007.
Having signed with Dot Records, Boyd told The Tennessean that he hopes for a successful career and to "bring to light songs again that have stories with meanings behind them" and "continue to make good music."
Boyd also told the publication that all the ups and downs he had in his career in the last 11 years prepared him for being able to deal with the ups and downs on "The Voice."
"It kept me from losing my focus because in my mind, it was yet another obstacle," Boyd said adding that he never aimed to sound like Travis Tritt although they both have bluegrass and gospel music influences.
Also in Hot Country Song top 10 list are "Sun Daze" by Florida Georgia Lane, "Perfect Storm" by Brad Paisley, "I See You" by Luke Bryan, "Lonely Tonight" by Blake Shelton featuring Ashley Monroe, '"Til It's Gone" by Kenny Chesney and "Leave The Night On" by Sam Hunt.
Meanwhile, Boyd's "The Voice" mentor Shelton and wife Miranda Lambert recently performed an impromptu acoustic concert at The Ladysmith Bed & Breakfast in Tishomingo, Okla., which was attended by 80 guests, Great American Country reported.
Shelton will return as "The Voice Season 8" coach with Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and Pharrell Williams.
