Reports have it that Sarah Jessica Parker is close to signing with HBO for upcoming comedy television series "Divorce." She is said to not only star in the show but also executive produce, Ace Showbiz reported.
It's been a decade since Parker ended her run as Carrie Bradshaw on "Sex and the City," a role for which she won two Emmy Awards. Now Parker is set to return to the small screen in a single-camera project with HBO.
"Divorce" is a comedy tale that tells the story of a middle-aged woman - possibly played by Parker - and her husband. After being influenced by her two single friends, the woman initally gets the idea of divorcing her husband, but finds herself undecided over whether or not to go through with it. Her husband later learns about her affairs and ends up calling off the marriage before she does.
Parker is set to serve as executive producer through her company Pretty Matches Production, according to Hollywood Reporter.
Joining Parker as producer is Alison Benson, who is the president of Pretty Matches, Aaron Kaplan and Paul Simms from "Girls" and "Flight of the Conchords." Sharon Horgan of ABC's "Bad Management" and Fox's "Dead Boss" will be joining the team as scriptwriter and possible co-showrunner alongside Simms.
"Divorce" is still waiting for the go signal from HBO. It will be Parker's first major television comeback effort following a recurring role in the fourth season of Fox's "Glee," according to Deadline. She also served as executive producer for another HBO pilot show "Washingtonienne."
Intterestingly, Parker is also reportedly interested in limited series "Busted" from Sidney Kimmel Entertainment and Anonymous Content.
The pilot order for "Divorce" is still pending. It will follow another comedy pilot starring Sarah Silverman that has already been picked up by HBO.
