Ansel Elgort personally addressed rumors about his sexuality on Twitter last Thursday, Huffington Post has learned.
The 20-year-old hunky and adorable heartthrob cleared up persistent gay rumours by tweeting: "Just in case it isn't clear... I like girls. A lot" in the morning.
A few hours later, Shailene Woodley's "Insurgent" co-star added an explanation that he is not hiding anything about his sexual preference and a disclaimer that there is nothing wrong at all with being gay, reports MTV.
"Also let me say if I was gay I wouldn't hide it. Being gay or straight isn't bad or good it just IS. U are who you are. Be true to yourself," Elgort wrote.
The "Carrie" actor's tweets comes amid speculations that he is is batting for the same team after portraying real-life gay pianist Van Cliburn in an upcoming biopic.
Adding fuel to that is his remake of his "The Fault In Our Stars" poster, wherein he could be seen posing with his biopic co-actor Nat Wolff instead of Woodley.
The actor even proudly shared the remake snap on Instagram, where it got a lot of positive comments from fans.
Elgort was previously in a relationship with Violetta Komyshan, whom he dated since they were in high school, according to Perez Hilton.
Elgort and Komyshan broke up in August amid reports claiming that the former had difficulty in navigating his commitments because of his work.
And while Elgort was previously speculated to be dating Woodley, both actors have denied such rumors and maintained that they are just "good friends."
"We're close. We're good friends, so it's nice to have those kind of people in your life," Elgort told Hollywood Life . "We really like each other, so that's helpful."
