A Guns N Roses biopic based on Marc Canter's 2008 biography on the band is in the works, Billboard reports.
The biopic has been in development for four months now and will not be a documentary as some have fans speculated.
Canter, a childhood friend of the band's guitarist Slash and the group's photographer, teased the details on a Guns N Roses forum, according to Spin, and said the biopic will be "very detailed."
"I do have a big say so on the script which is still being put together now but so far looking cool," Canter wrote. "I am going to see that everyone in the cast is doing their job and doing justice to the band."
He explained, "Since I was there, I know what the dialog was between the band for many of the events that took place. When you find out who is making the movie, you will then understand that it will be very cool."
He also mentioned how excited he is for the project and how fans should watch out for it because it will not be "a cheesy movie like 'Rock Star.'"
"There really is such a great story here that even the outtakes will be great," he said.
Meanwhile, no details about the film's director and cast were given. The release date was also not mentioned. The band's frontman Axl Rose will have no involvement in the film, says Canter.
Slash had previously dismissed the idea of a Guns N Roses biopic.
"I would not like to see a Guns N' Roses biopic," Slash told the Belfast Telegraph earlier this year. "It's really rare when you see actors portraying live musicians [well]. I don't think rock and roll translates in the movies. I don't think they really get the gritty vibe of what it's like."
Guns N' Roses was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
