"Younger" actress Hilary Duff has addressed her separation from husband of three years, Mike Comrie, in a tell-all interview with Health magazine for its December issue.
The "Chasing the Sun" singer split from Comrie in January, but the two have remained civil and friendly towards each other as co-parents of their 2-year-old son, Luca.
"We really didn't see it going any other way," the former Disney channel child star said. "We have a 2-year-old together. We love each other. Obviously it wasn't a rash decision that we made. We really are just trying to figure out how we are the most happy - whether together or apart - and we're doing it as lovingly as possible."
And indeed Duff and Comrie have remained good friends while co-parenting their son.
"We would hang out without Luca; we think it's important to keep a strong relationship no matter if we're married or not married. And we love our son. We both want to fight for happiness," the "Lizzie McGuire" alum gushed.
Interestingly, Hilary Duff once admitted that there is still hope for her romance with the former hockey pro that's why neither of them has filed for divorce, according to Us Weekly.
"I mean, if there wasn't a chance for getting back [together], I think we would've filed for divorce," she said on "The Kyle and Jackie O Show" in September.
While the "Raise Your Voice" star maintained that she is not closing her doors, she also revealed that she's pretty much enjoying her life right now with her son.
"I think my manners went downhill since I've had a child," she told Health mag. "He's in the high chair, and I'll be standing up eating with him. I'm like, 'Hilary, get it together!' Do you know how disgusting it is to eat noodles with your hands? I'll get food on my face from eating some of Luca's food."
"We'll go upstairs to get in the bath together, and I'll look in the mirror, and I'm like, 'Sweet. Food on my face. How long has that been here?' Thank God we're alone," she added.
Aside from sharing about her life as a mother, the 27-year-old also opened up about her weight fluctuations in the past, reports Daily Mail.
"When I was 17, I weighed, like, 98 pounds. I was totally obsessed with everything I put in my mouth. I was way too skinny. Not cute. And my body wasn't that healthy - my hands would cramp up a lot because I wasn't getting the nutrition I needed," the "A Cinderella Story" star said.
"That constant pressure of wanting something different than I had? I regret that. I feel like there was way too much time spent thinking about that," she quipped.
