Natalie Morales may be planning her big move from the "Today" show after being part of it since 2006, but NBC insists that there is no truth in this circulating rumor.
Over the weekend, NBC news show host Natalie Morales made headlines after Page Six published a report claiming that she is already looking forward to cutting her ties from the morning news program, Us Weekly has learned.
The celebrity news and gossip site even claimed that Morales is exiting the show because of her rift with fellow host Tamron Hall, brought about by a "power struggle" to land the top anchor spot.
It can be noted that back in 2012, Savannah Guthrie replaced Ann Curry as one of the top anchors of the show. Now that another anchor position is opening, Morales and Hall are reportedly fighting for the spot.
However, NBC News President Deborah Turness is said to be in favor of Hall though she was only named co-host of the show this February, bypassing Morales' chances of finally establishing herself in one of the top spots of the "Today" show.
"There's a lot of tension," an insider gushed to Page Six. "Natalie and Tamron are competitive, and there was a big blowup in October between the two. Deborah has an issue with Natalie and has sided with Tamron. There has been zero communication between Deborah and Natalie for a long period of time. It's the talk of NBC staff."
In response to the circulating report, "Today" show executive producer Don Nash said that "this is total nonsense."
Nash then added that there is no use of trying to come up with troubling news about the show since nothing to that extent currently exists, reports Media Bistro.
"As the 'Today' show continues to gain momentum, it sounds like someone is trying to stir up trouble that doesn't exist. Natalie Morales is valued by everyone at the news division from the top down, and her future is with the 'Today' show and NBC News," Nash said.
Interestingly, Hall also addressed the issue by taking to Twitter a subtle message about "Family Feud."
"I love the show "Family Feud" but since you asked always family never feud #grateful," she wrote in the early hours of Tuesday.
Amid Morales' departure rumor, sources maintain that the 42-year-old journalist still has two more years on her contract so she can't leave the "Today" show any time soon, according to Daily Mail.
