Matthew McConaughey's 6-year-old son Levi knows the value of his father's Oscar statuette, even though the actor and his wife Camila never made his Academy Award win a big deal to their three children.
"Camila and I never pointed out that the Oscars were the gold standard," the 45-year-old "Interstellar" actor said during his appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" Friday, Nov. 7, according to People. "But there was a tsunami in Chile a few months back, and he says, 'Papa, what's a tsunami' and I tell him. And he says, 'Could one hit us here?' And we're in Malibu so I said it well could."
"And he said, 'What would we do?'" continued McConaughey. "And I said, 'We'd get our most-prized possessions: We'd get the dogs, the cat, your sister, your little brother, me and mom and we get out of here as quick as possible, just what we really need."
Then the smart little boy thought that there was something missing on his father's list.
"He goes, 'Well, wait a second. We'd get the Oscar too, right?' Good boy!" said McConaughey.
When asked if Levi will also enter show business, the "True Detective" alum said: "I think he'd be behind the camera. He's more of an engineering mind. He loves going on set and seeing how it works," according to Daily Mail.
Then DeGeneres asked if Levi loved visiting the set of the Christopher Nolan-directed film, and the hunky "Magic Mike" star answered: "Oh, yeah, better than going to Disneyland... We had those spacecrafts built, I was hanging eighty feet off in the air on wires, the ship's running akimbo. It was an ultimate thrill ride for him."
McConaughey won the Academy Award for Best Actor in March for his role as Ron Woodroof in the 2013 biographical drama film "Dallas Buyers Club." During his acceptance speech, the actor fervently thanked God for his achievements.
"First off, I want to thank God, because that's who I look up to," he said, as quoted by Huffington Post. "He has graced my life with opportunities that I know are not of my hand or of any other human hand. He has shown me that ... it's a scientific fact that gratitude reciprocates. In the words of the late Charlie Laughton who said, "When you've got God you've got a friend - and that friend is you."
