Taylor Kitsch has confirmed in an interview with AdWeek that he will be joining the cast of HBO's "True Detective."
Kitsch, who has been typecast for fictional movies "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," "John Carter" and "Battleship," said he wanted his next role to be a "true" one, IMDb noted.
Kitsch has been away from doing movies for almost a year, which makes him excited preparing to work again.
The 5'11" model-actor admitted it was difficult waiting for a good break because he never wanted to work just for the sake of working.
"So, it was tough to sit a year out, keeping a finger crossed that I was going to get True," Kitsch said, according to the report.
Kitsch previously appeared as Tom Riggins on NBC's "Friday Night Lights," for which he received positive reviews from both fans and critics, according to IMDb.
As Riggins, Kitsch brought "poignancy and vulnerability" to the role of a Texas high school fullback who used alcohol as a means to overcome his personal demons and struggles with his identity.
Meanwhile, his new character in the upcoming series, Paul Woodrugh, is a good-looking, 28-year-old military veteran who has been immersed in violence and destruction, a report in IGN noted.
Kitsch, who said he loved the first season of "True Detective," expressed his excitement over the prospect of portraying a "real" character on camera.
"It's just unlike anything I've seen in, you know, I don't know when." Kitch said "And it was so grounded. It could really happen. This is very similar, and I love that. It makes it more relatable. It makes these guys more real."
The cast of "True Detective" Season 2 will include Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn.
Kitsch would be also working with Rachel McAdams, if negotiations between McAdams' camp and HBO are beneficial to one another, according to the report.
