Though Nick Cannon is not surprised by the rumors that he is already dating after recently breaking up with Mariah Carey, the 34-year-old comedian-rapper has admitted that he gets saddened when the media includes innocent people to false stories that have nothing to do with the situation.
"You know what, honestly I'm in such a space right now I'm just trying to be as respectable, as classy, and the best human I could possibly be - but it's funny cause of course people are gonna say things," Cannon told Hollywood Life Thursday, Oct. 23, at his event, A Tribute to Nick Cannon, which benefits St. Mary's Healthcare System. "I'm pretty sure there's people here tonight they're gonna say 'oh this person showed up.'"
"They're gonna say what they're gonna say, but as long as you walk in truth it'll eventually come out and they'll see what it is," added Cannon, who is rumored to be dating Wiz Khalifa's estranged wife Amber Rose.
"If everyone's excited about my dating life or lack thereof, that stuff is gonna pass there's no harm to me," he continued. "I do get saddened by the situation when they bring in innocent people that have nothing to do with the situation and they start to bully them and the media might beat them up, because I can't control that - but they can take shots with me all they want. Especially when people have nothing to do with the situation and get targeted."
The "Gigolo" rapper said that he is currently focusing on his 3-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan. "I'm trying to focus on my family and my kids and do what's best for them," he said.
Meanwhile, Rose, 31, laughed rumors that she is sleeping with Cannon and that she had cheated on Khalifa with him."I was like, 'Damn, Nick, that's cool for you, but it ain't happening,'" she told People at the launch of XXIV Karat Sparkling Wines last week. "I'm going through a divorce and technically I'm single, but I'm just not ready for [that]."
Though Cannon and Rose are not dating, the two are expected to be seen more often together as the "School Dance" director is now managing the model.
"We're super excited about her brand," Cannon told Us Weekly earlier this month at Samsung's #DITCHtheDSLR Day Comes to Hollywood and Highland. "I feel like she's one of those people who are truly an icon when it comes to fashion, style, and even just someone in pop culture. I want to help her develop a lot of things and the first thing we are starting with is a book. We just did a huge book deal that we are really excited about."
