Archie Panjabi To Exit CW's 'The Good Wife' After Six Seasons, Inks Deal With Fox

British actress Archie Panjabi will leave the CBS legal drama "Good Wife," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

After being part of the show for six seasons as legal investigator Kalinda Sharma and winning an Emmy in 2010 for her portrayal of the character, Panjabi will no longer renew her contract which ends in May. The actress will reportedly headline a show with 20th Century Fox slated to premiere in 2015.

"Archie is an Emmy-award winning dramatic actress, and rightly so," said Fox casting executive Sharon Klein in a statement. "Her work on 'The Good Wife' has been extraordinary, and the time has come for her to star in a project of her own. We couldn't happier that it will be with us."

Panjabi's character has been a vital part of the show since it launched in 2009, according to Buzzfeed.

"The Good Wife" showrunners Robert and Michelle King sang nothing but praises for the actress: "Archie is an amazing actress who helped build Kalinda from the ground up as an enigmatic, powerful and sexy character. It's been a pleasure to write for her, and we'll be sad to see her go; but we still have her for the rest of season six, so let's not exhaust our goodbyes yet."

They added, "We look forward to meeting all the wonderful new characters Archie brings to the screen. But either way, we're keeping the boots."

When she wasn't filming for "The Good Wife," Panjabi worked in various projects in Britain including BBC's "The Fall," in which she co-starred with Gilian Anderson, and ITV's "The Widower," says USA Today.

She will next appear in the film "San Andreas" with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Ioan Gruffudd.

Panjabi is the second major actor to leave the show this year. Josh Charles, who played Will Gardner, decided not to renew his contract in March, reports People.
