Chelsea Handler slammed "Saturday Night Live" during an interview with Roy Sekoff of "Huffington Post Live" on Oct. 9, Thursday.
According to the "Uganda Be Kidding Me" author, "SNL" producers invited her to host the show twice without ever actually booking her.
"They said, 'You're gonna host.' I was doing Radio City Music Hall that night. I had three sold-out shows at Radio City Music Hall. I went over. I met with whoever was working with (Lorne Michaels). Producer Marci Klein was working for him at the time," Handler told Huffington Post.
Admitting she was "upset" at first but eventually "got over it," Handler is aware "SNL" will hate her for revealing what had happened, but she said she does not have a problem with that.
"So they said, 'Oh, we have to have you host.' My agent called, he said, 'You're hosting 'SNL.' They're gonna give you a date in the fall." And then it never happened," Handler added.
On Oct. 10, Netflix will stream Handler's standup special titled "Uganda Be Kidding Me Live."
Five days before that, the former "Chelsea Lately" host sat down with Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl to promote the upcoming Netflix special.
Handler also told Grohl which guests she hated to interview reality stars such as Tila Tequila and "the Housewives" on "Chelsea Lately."
"I hate reality television," Handler confessed. "I had to have all of these reality stars on my show at the beginning because I wasn't established. It was E! and it was cheesy."
During the finale of "Chelsea Lately," Handler sang a parody of "We Are The World" with her pals Jennifer Aniston and Melissa McCarthy and several musicians including "The Voice" judge Gwen Stefani, Miley Cyrus and Grohl.
Grohl described the parody "the most f---ed up Hollywood Squares s--t I've ever experienced in my entire life," Too Fab reported.
While Handler will not be starting her talk show on Netflix until 2016, she will be doing a series of specials that veer away from the old talk show format for the streaming service early in 2015, Los Angeles Times has learned.
