Beth (Emily Kinney) was believed to have been kidnapped in the thirteenth episode of "The Walking Dead" Season 4, but when the first trailer for the upcoming season was released at the San Diego Comic-Con last July, fans were relieved to find out that she is alive and is currently at what appears to be a hospital. The only question left is when she will be reunited with the rest of the gang, and how exactly that will unfold.
Many viewers, most especially Beth and Daryl (Norman Reedus) shippers, are probably hoping that the fan-favorite crossbow-wielding character will be the one who will rescue the younger Greene sister from wherever she currently is. But does Beth actually think Daryl is looking for her? Channel Guide Magazine recently asked that question to Kinney, and the 29-year-old singer-actress answered, "I'm hoping so."
Kinney said that Daryl has become a "really good friend" to Beth since the Beth and Daryl-centric episode "Still" from last season, so she thinks that Daryl will look for her at some point.
"I think Beth is hoping so - that people are looking for her and that she is going to be reunited," Kinney said. "I'm not able to tell you anything that is going to happen, but yeah, all of it will be answered, but I can't tell you when."
"It was so fun and satisfying to do that episode with Norman," Kinney added. "Norman is so committed to the show and to the fans and he's really special and really inspiring to me, so we had a great time working on it, too."
When asked by Entertainment Weekly whether the connection between Beth and Daryl could turn into a romance at some point in the future, she answered: "I don't know. You have to wait and find out."
But the actress thinks that there are indeed feelings of some sort between the two characters. "I would say last season what you saw, there's definitely a connection, and a connection that's growing," Kinney said. "And they care about each other a lot, and so there's definitely something really special there."
Speaking at the San Diego Comic-Con last July, Reedus, shared his own interpretation about the odd relationship between Beth and Daryl.
"This is how I took it during it: If Daryl had feelings for Beth, he didn't understand them ... he's like a child, like 'I don't know what this means.' But it was more 'intimate' than 'a coupling,'" the hunky 45-year-old actor said, according to Variety.
"The Walking Dead" Season 5 premieres on Oct. 12, 9:00 p.m. on AMC.
