Rocksteady Studios, the developer behind the upcoming "Batman: Arkham Knight," aims to provide the best "Batman" simulator to gamers, Game Spot reported.
This was explained by Guy Perkins, the company's marketing manager, during this year's EGX convention.
According to Perkins, "Arkham Knight" brings together three elements that were not explored fully in previous "Arkham" games.
"If people walk away thinking this is the ultimate 'Batman' simulator, then our job is complete," he said. "We gave them Gotham City, we gave them Batman at the height of his powers and we gave them the Batmobile."
"I think those three elements come together to make a great game," Perkins added. "If people go away feeling like it was awesome, we've done a good job."
"Arkham Knight" takes place a year after the events set in "Batman: Arkham City."
Perkins noted that the latest game deviates from the linear gameplay in "Arkham City" and its predecessor, "Batman: Arkham Asylum," according to IGN.
"We try to create that very cinematic story-telling experience through the game," he said. "Obviously 'Asylum' was the starting point for that, but the intimate cat-and-mouse gameplay between Joker and Batman really demanded it took place in the pressure Cooker of the Asylum."
Aside from the shift in the story, Perkins said the upcoming game features an open-world environment to accommodate the new elements that gamers will surely enjoy, Geek Nation reported.
"We took that into the open world to give players the next piece of the Batman armor as it were, which is the grappling gun and the ability to glide," he said. "The introduction of those pieces really required a bigger game world to support them, but then the big thing that was always missing for us was the Batmobile."
"It was always missing but wouldn't have worked in 'Asylum' or 'City,'" Perkins continued. "To build an open-world around that was crucial."
"Batman: Arkham Knight" will be released on June 2, 2015 and will be available for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
