'Game Of Thrones' Star Natalie Dormer aka Margaery Tyrell To Star In Action Thriller Film 'Patient Zero'

Natalie Dormer has been set to star in the upcoming Screen Gems action thriller film "Patient Zero," Deadline reported.

The film will be directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky, an Austrian film director and screenwriter best known for his work in the 2007 Oscar-winning crime drama war film "The Counterfeiters," according to ComingSoon.net.

The script for "Patient Zero" is written by Mike Le, who also penned the feature length screenplay to the 2014 thriller flick "Dark Summer."

Vincent Newman ("We're The Millers") is producing.

"Patient Zero" centers on a worldwide pandemic that causes the evolution of a new species, according to Deadline. An aggressive form of rabies makes the infected humans into predators who are addicted to violence. But a miracle survivor with the unique ability to speak with the cannibalistic mutants using their language exploits his one of a kind gift to look for a cure to the plague.

Calling "Patient Zero" as another zombie film might be unfitting as the threat in the film are said to be cannibalistic mutants rather than brainless undead, according to Screenrant.

In terms of scope, "Patient Zero" seems to be more similar with the 2013 Brad Pitt-starrer disaster zombie film "World War Z" as well as with Milla Jovovich-starrer sci-fi horror franchise "Resident Evil," according to Screenrant. Just like "Patient Zero," both big screen projects told a story of a zombie outbreak in a global level. "World War Z" focused on finding a cure to the outbreak just like "Patient Zero's" premise, while the video game-based franchise centered more on surviving through the apocalypse.

Dormer's role in the film is being kept under wraps, but considering the 32-year-old actress' rising popularity and the fact that she was the first one to be cast for the project, it is more likely that she will be playing the survivor, according to Screenrant.

Dormer is known for her roles as Anne Boleyn in the Showtime series "The Tudors," Irene Adler/Jamie Moriarty in CBS crime drama series "Elementary" and Margaery Tyrell in the hit HBO fantasy series "Game of Thrones."

The Berkshire, England-born actress is also set to appear as Cressida in the sci-fi adventure films "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1" and "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2."
