Tom Hardy is a married man!
The 37-year-old British heartthrob tied the knot with his girlfriend Charlotte Riley more than two months ago at an 18th century castle in the South of France. The newlyweds managed to keep their special day a secret until The Sun broke the news Sunday, Sept. 21.
The "Inception" actor reportedly exchanged "I do's" in front of "their closest friends and family" at Chateau de Roussan in Saint-Remy-de-Provence, France on July 4. Hardy's 6-year-old son, Louis, with ex-girlfriend Rachael Speed was also present at the nuptials, AceShowbiz reported.
"It was a beautiful, low-key day made even more special because they just had their closest friends and family around them," an insider told The Sun via Irish Examiner. "Tom's son Louis played a key role during the ceremony. And they made certain to pick a stunning and private setting."
"There was nothing flash about the wedding, they always said they wanted it to be about the two of them and their family rather than any grand gesture," continued the source. "Both sides of the family then stayed on as guests afterwards in the hotel."
Riley, 32, had previously discussed marrying Hardy, according to Yahoo! Celebrity UK & Ireland. "We are desperate to do it but I'll never have a celebrity wedding. It will be low-key with family and friends," she said before.
Hardy and Riley first met on the set of "Wuthering Heights" in 2009. The PBS TV adaptation of Emily Brontë's novel of the same name stars the now husband and wife in the roles of the famous lovers Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw. The actors got engaged the following year.
Hardy married Sarah Ward in 1999, but the marriage ended in divorce in 2004.
Hardy was last seen on the big screen in the crime drama film "The Drop," which was released on Sept. 12. He just finished filming for the thriller movie "Child 44," musical flick "London Road," and post-apocalyptic action film "Mad Max: Fury Road."
