Tywin Lannister will still appear in the upcoming fifth season of the "Game of Thrones!"
Charles Dance, the actor who plays the head of House Lannister, told MTV UK, that he is not yet done with the hit HBO fantasy drama series despite his character's terrifying death in the show's Season 4 finale titled "The Children."
"I'm not completely missing out on the next series. More than that, I'm not going to say," the 67-year-old actor teased. "You haven't seen the last of Tywin Lannister, is all I'll say."
On the eve of his execution, Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), who is secretly released from his cell by his brother Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), goes to Tywin's chambers only to find Shae (Sibel Kekilli) in his father's bed. He strangled her to death and takes Joffrey Baratheon's (Jack Gleeson) crossbow.
Tyrion then finds his father in his privy. He whispers that he loved Shae, whom Tywin dismisses as a "whore." Tyrion warns him not to use that word again and tearfully asks why his father sentenced his own son to death, when he knew that he was not the one responsible for Joffrey's death. When Tywin calls Shae a whore for the second time, Tyrion shoots him in the stomach. And after Tywin hisses, "you're no son of mine." Tyrion shoots his father again, now in the heart, ultimately killing him.
Since there is no doubt that Tywin is already dead, the character may make appearances in either Tyrion or Jaime's flashback, according to The Hollywood Reporter. In George R.R. Martin's novel series "A Song of Ice and Fire," Jaime spends some time figuring out how to become a good leader after his father's death, and by doing so he imagines what his father would do in certain situations. There are also instances in the novel series when Tyrion keeps hearing some of Tywin's final words before he shot him to death.
Tywin may also be part of Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey)'s flashback. The production was looking for an actress who would play Maggy the Frog next season, according to WinterIsComing.net. Maggy the Frog is described as a "fortune teller in 'A Feast for Crows,'" that is reportedly set to appear in one episode in the upcoming season. In the novel series, Maggy the Frog allowed the young Cersei to ask her three questions, and this encounter from the original source indicates that Season 5 may feature some flashbacks which may include Tywin.
Also, Tywin may simply return as a corpse next season. In a June interview with Entertainment Weekly, Dance said, "I just hope I get a state funeral afterwards as well. They should start season 5 with a great f-k-off funeral for Tywin."
