The long wait is over! Chris Brown has officially released his newest album, "X," after serving time in prison.
"X" serves as Brown's sixth solo album but it features at least 12 different artists, including Akon, R. Kelly and Usher to name a few.
One interesting thing to note about the collaboration is that majority of the artists were on equal singing ground with Brown. This means, they weren't just tapped to sing stanzas of certain songs, they sang duets with him, according to the NY Times
Meanwhile, experts in the music industry have reviewed and "X" and they have some negative things to say about Brown's latest endeavor.
"X feels like it exists in two parts. There's the standard edition album with sure-fire winners like the love-in-the-club tune "New Flame," with Usher and Rick Ross. Then there's the deluxe edition, which tacks on the older 2013 offerings at the end. While there's surely some label-backed marketing reason that explains the division, X is best when digested as an entire body of work," MTV News noted.
The NY Daily News noted that Brown's "scattered" and "disengaged" album may have something to do with the troubles he experienced within the not so distant past.
"No wonder his album sounds so scattered and disengaged. A portion of 'X' continues the approach of 'Fortune' and it formidable predecessor 'Fame.' Thanks to producers like Diplo, the album featured EDM-style club beats and motifs. But other than those on the prerelease smash single, 'Loyal,' the synth blasts here lack the savvy and appeal of the ones employed on the excellent 'Fortune.' Many are watered down by soggy pop."
Meanwhile, the songs included in the first half of Brown's album are "X," "Add Me In," "Loyal," "New Flame," "Songs on 12 Play," "101 (Interlude)," "Drown In It" and "Came to Do."
