"Girls" star Zosia Mamet recently sat down for an interview with the Huffington Post Live where she talked about the series' controversies and expressed her gratitude to Taylor Swift and the show's executive producer Judd Apatow.
Swift recently talked about her fondness for the series and admitted that she identifies herself most with the character of Shoshanna, played by Mamet herself.
In her interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Swift explained that she's very much like Shoshanna because she "gets excited about things, she's really girly. And when she was in a relationship that was very comfortable, she made the decision to get out and go experience new things on her own."
Additionally, Swift added that because of that decision, she's now "becoming surer of herself and taking life head-on, in a way that I can relate to. Even though I've never accidentally smoked crack at a warehouse party and run pantsless through Brooklyn."
Meanwhile, Mamet is also grateful for all the controversies surrounding the hit HBO series that kicked off back in 2012.
The 26-year-old actress says the entire cast owes everything to their executive producer, Apatow, who reminded me that the regardless of cast diversity, what's most important was that the show was being talked about by the public.
"Something that Judd said very early on to us, which I think has helped all of us, is that people are talking about it, and that's the good thing. That's sort of also what we're trying to do-we're trying to start a conversation in many ways, in many things," Mamet explained.
The actress, who previously revealed that she suffered from an eating disorder on a column on Glamour, clarified that each of the characters in the series wants to identify to a certain group of women, and not all types of female.
"I think Lena said from very early on too that she never set out to write a show for all women, but to write a show about these specific four women and their lives and the things in which they're doing."
