'Sherlock' Season 4 Spoilers: John And Mary To Welcome Child Next Season? Could Sherlock And Molly End Up Together?

The fourth season of "Sherlock" does not air until early 2016, but a lot of spoilers, rumors and theories about the next installment have already been swirling on the internet. And one of the most talked about topics among fans is the individual romantic entanglement of Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) and his sidekick John (Martin Freeman).

Viewers of the show may see John and Mary (Amanda Abbington) as parents next season, according to Latin Times. In Season 3, Marry tied the knot with John, and fans saw how her presence affected the dynamic of the latter's friendship with Sherlock. During the said season, it was revealed that Mary was expecting a child, and it seemed that she was already in her last trimester by the season finale. Given all these details, it is not impossible that she will be giving birth when the show returns in 2016.

In an interview with Vulture earlier this year, Abbington was asked if she thinks John and Mary will be good parents, and the 40-year-old British actress answered, "On the one hand, they'd probably be reckless because they're both quite psychopathic. But I think an assassin and an army doctor who loves trouble, I mean, that kid has got nothing to worry about. Screwed up mentally, of course, but if there's any bullying on the playground, we're covered."

Meanwhile, fans have wanted the show's creative team to write a romantic story arc for Sherlock and Molly (Louise Brealey). And apparently they are not alone on this campaign because even the Oxford English Dictionary seemed to have suggested that it, too, wants to see that unfold on the small screen.

The dictionary has recently used the pair's chemistry to define the new word, "ship," which means to want someone to fall in love, according to Latin Times. The dictionary's example: "I'll always ship Sherlock and Molly." Hopefully, this little stunt could convince the series' writers that it is about time that the two have some romantic tension between them.

And if ever the show would move forward with the said story arc, it seems that there would be no any form of backlash. In fact, Brealey previously told Radio Times that fans went crazy after Sherlock and Molly kissed in a fantasy sequence in Season 3. "It went completely crackers when the show came out," she said. "I got 7,000 Twitter followers within five minutes of that kiss airing. It had doubled by the time the episode ended."

The three-episode Season 4 of "Sherlock" is set to be aired in early 2016, following a full-length Christmas 2015 special, which will go into production in January 2015.
