'The Theory of Everything' Screens at the Toronto Film Festival 2014; Receives Standing Ovation from Attendees; Stephen Hawking in Tears

"The Theory of Everything" premiered at the Toronto Film Festival 2014 on Sunday and the film received a standing ovation from festival attendees.

The film, which was inspired by Stephen Hawking's life starred Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones.

Director James Marsh introduced the film and opened a Q&A afterwards. Redmayne described the film as "one of the most extraordinary, terrifying and brilliantly inspiring experiences of my life."

Redmayne also confirmed that he underwent rigorous research in order to give justice to Hawking's character, according to the Boston Herald.

The actor also dished on what it was like meeting Hawking for the first time just before he started filming "The Theory of Everything," Entertainment Weekly's Inside Movies reported.

I "suffered from verbal diarrhea" and "spent 25 minutes vomiting information about Stephen Hawking to Stephen Hawking," he said.

Redmayne also revealed how great of a privilege it was that Hawking himself allowed the film's entire production team to make use of his computerized voice in the movie, the same publication noted.

Meanwhile, multiple sources confirmed that Hawking has already seen the entire movie. On Sunday, it was revealed that Hawking's nurse wiped tears off of his cheeks as "the light came up at the recent screening," Variety noted.

Hawking also dubbed the film "broadly true."

"The Theory of Everything" chronicles the life of Stephen Hawking, from the time he was a student until the time he got plagued with ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease.

His love affair with long-time girlfriend and first wife, Jane is also at the core of the movie that is slated for release this coming November 7 in the United States.

Meanwhile, IGN reviewed the film and said, "Theory of Everything collapses into a dense relationship drama with more energy than its-by-the-books first half. Marsha's intimacy can handle the intimacy, but not the big picture that turned Hawking into a celebrity."
