"Avengers" star Jeremy Renner recently talked about rumors he heard about the upcoming Marvel film "Captain America 3" and his other future projects in an interview with Collider.
Those who saw "Captain America 2" might remember that Renner's Hawkeye was a no-show despite the deep involvement of S.H.I.E.L.D. and fellow agent Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson, in the sequel.
Although Renner is not yet sure regarding his fate in the third "Captain America" film, he revealed that he has heard talks about reuniting with his S.H.I.E.L.D. colleagues in the third installment of the superhero franchise.
"There are rumblings of 'Captain America 3,'" he said. "I don't know what's going to happen there. I've got to find the time, man. I'm trying to stay at home and I can't."
Although Renner's "Captain America 3" appearance is not yet officially confirmed, fans of the actor can surely expect to see him in his blossoming non-Marvel projects.
"I still have 'Mission: Impossible 5' that I'm going to shoot in a week," he said. "And then, 'Bourne' will happen next summer."
Aside from these established franchises, Renner is also working on other standalone films such as "Kill the Messenger," a drama thriller based on Gary Webb's novel "Dark Alliance." Renner will star in the film and produce it through his company, The Combine.
"'Kill the Messenger' is a great one for our company," the actor said. "It's our first one we've produced and it's setting a tone for what we want to do to the public and to other people that want to make movies."
After "Kill the Messenger," Renner will work on "King of Heists," a project based on the life of American bank robber George Leslie, according to Deadline.
"Another one is 'King of Heists,'" he said. "That's about the biggest bank robbery in history. It's very, very exciting."
As for his other upcoming projects, Renner will portray iconic actor Steve McQueen in the biopic "McQueen" and become a rally race car driver in "Slingshot," First Showing reported.
"There's a Steve McQueen project that's fascinating to me," he said. "I love that guy. He's so the antithesis of himself constantly. It's amazing."
"And then 'Slingshot' is a great rally racing movie," he added. "It's again another one with themes of underdogs."
